Wave Hospitality Advisors Inc was founded in 2009 by Jens von Gierke, after spending over two decades in the hotel industry working for the ownership of hotel and mixed use assets and several hotel management companies in the operations of full service and luxury hotels.
Our clients benefit in every phase of their asset ownership by having each project reviewed and analyzed directly from an owner's point of view. We have worked on the owner's side for the last 14 years and understand the difference between a "quick fix" and a long term value enhancement strategy for highest potential exit or refinancing results for the ownership. We customize our approach with each client and clarify their investment goals and target holding window. Those specifics are reflected in the subsequent Investment Plan, which serves as the property's individualized strategic blueprint for success.
Our methodology for the advisor's role is very different from our competitors, who do not have the experience reviewing an asset or development from an owner's and operators perspective. We also understand that the objectives of ownership can differ from one client to another and we are not accepting any assignments where we know we cannot deliver the expected results. We fully understand that once our clients engage us, we are the owner's extension into the project. With this comes great responsibility and trust, and the required highest level of integrity, which we carry out on a daily basis in every aspect of communication regarding the project.

Jens Von Gierke
Principal & Founder
Jens is the founder and principal of Wave Hospitality Advisors. Jens founded Wave Hospitality in 2009 and brings 30 years of hospitality experience to the project. Jens leads the company in all aspects and is involved in each and every project. His responsibilities with the company include hotel management and franchise negotiations, detailed design and program reviews, pre-opening and development budget reviews, hotel management operator negotiations, specialty consultant recommendations (e-marketing, technology, etc), market research and analysis, staff recruiting and referrals, and staff training.
Senior Vice President of Operations
Since joining the Wave Hospitality team in 2011, Jenna’s responsibilities have grown to include design and development review, pre-development budget analysis, market research and feasibility analysis, monthly asset management reporting, franchise application process facilitation, report preparation, and accounting analysis on a corporate level.
Jason has filled the role of project manager and acquisition support for Wave Hospitality Advisors since 2009. Jason’s responsibilities include acquisition model development, financial analysis, feasibility study analysis, operational support and report preparation.
History & Milestones
One of Founder Jens von Gierke’s first major accomplishments with Wave Hospitality Advisors included the successful acquisition of the St. Regis Aspen in Colorado with OptAsia in December 2010. Wave Hospitality’s team remained the asset manager for the next several years following the acquisition.
In addition, Wave Hospitality has provided advisory support from start to finish on a number of development projects, including the Element by Westin Harrison-Newark and Residence Inn by Marriott Jersey City hotels in New Jersey. Wave’s team completed the initial feasibility study, conducted brand selection and negotiations, monitored construction progress and budgets, and led the pre-opening services for both of these properties – and continues to asset manage them to this day. The Element Harrison-Newark opened in August 2014 while the Residence Inn Jersey City opened in March 2017.
The Wave Hospitality team consulted for the owner/developer of a large plot of land in Temecula, California with the intent to build a mixed-use project featuring a resort, winery, conference center, and retail marketplace throughout the mid-2010's. Wave's team spearheaded the hotel/resort portion of this project, successfully negotiating an agreement with a top hotel brand and greatly assisting with the design intent for the project.
Over the last 14 years, the Wave Hospitality team has provided various developers advisory and asset management support for several owner/developers in Mexico across a variety of projects. This Edition includes development advisory for the proposed St. Regis and W Kanai Resorts and initial development advisory leading to asset management of both the Westin Santa Fe and St. Regis Mexico City and the Westin Guadalajara .
Wave Hospitality provided brand agreement negotiation and development advisory services leading up to the opening of the newly constructed Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs in November 2017. Our team provided both pre-opening budget analysis, procurement reviews, punch walks, and staffing analysis for the owner/developer.
However, Jens’ aforementioned achievements in creating a third-party management company, Ironwave Hospitality, as well as the acquisition of Timber Cove Resort, are his most proud moments during his time as an entrepreneur.
